Zoysia Australis was developed by Dr Brian Schwartz at the University of Georgia’s renowned Tifton Campus, one of the world’s leading centres for turfgrass research. Dr Schwartz is also well known for his involvement in the development of TifTuf Hybrid Bermuda, a turf variety that has achieved widespread success internationally.

The variety was introduced to Australia in 2018 alongside a number of other high-performing zoysia cultivars for evaluation. Following extensive testing across different environments, growing conditions and practical applications, Zoysia Australis was chosen for commercial release. Its combination of performance, versatility and desirable turf characteristics helps distinguish it from many other lawn varieties currently available to Australian homeowners.
